The Dehati Foundation
Our Intent & Soul
“द देहाती फेस्ट एक विचार है जो दिलों के साथ शहर और गांव को आपस में जोड़ने की कोशिश करेगा।”
“The Dehati Fest is an idea that attempts to connect cities and villages with hearts.”
Despite our development, we remain divided—by caste, religion, wealth, and now, a widening gap between the village and the city. This distance is not just physical; it is ideological. Living in a small village is often seen as a curse, and the youth are driven by the narrative that there is “nothing in the village”.
For basic amenities—schools, colleges, hospitals—we moved to cities. Slowly, we left behind the struggle of the city for its glamour, forgetting the foundational role of the village. In this modern life, the utility of the village is being lost. “What is there in the village?” has become the defining question.
Employment drives migration, but now, even village entertainment is migrating. Plays, Ramlila, and poetry gatherings (Kavi Sammelans) have vanished. We must speak of the village’s utility from every stage, or the day is not far when villages will turn into cities.
“Art is the medium that can bridge this distance.”
